KD Farms Gypsy Vanners is family owned and dedicated to producing quality horses that adhere to the conformation, temperament, and trainability standards that we have come to love in this breed.
KD Gypsy began in 2003 with a curiositiy for a breed of horse then rarely seen in the United States. This curiosity grew into respect as they saw more and more of these horses, each with the honest, willing, kind, and athletic qualities so often spoken of by their owners. The purchase of their first mare, Oakfield Emma, sealed the deal on their breed of choice.
Since 2003, KD Gypsy has purchased the best mares they could afford and a lovely stallion to begin their breeding program. They have produced only 10 foals since their beginning, each receiving the quality, individual handling that small operations can provide.
Promotion of the breed is a constant consideration for KD Farms. Their horses are seen at breed shows, open shows, expos, parades, trail rides, and are exhibited in 4H. The consistent and constant handling from an early age provides each horse with the confidence to walk into any new environment and feel at ease. Their horses are exhibited in halter, in-hand obstacle, Western, and English. Killian's Irish, their stallion, is also trained to drive. It seems the more you do with them, the more they want to do with you.
Another aspect of KD Farms is sharing the breed with others. Their horses have been used in 4H demonstrations, youth church camps, children's fairs, and, most recently, a therapeutic riding center. Oakfield Emma has been free-leased to the Equestrian Therapy Program (ETP) at Fassett Farms in Cridersville, Ohio.
