Emma

Oakfield Emma

1996, 14.2 hh mare

Emma is no longer offered for sale.  She has found a new home at the Fassett Farms Equestrian Therapy Program.  As she becomes accustomed to her new job, additional photos will be added.  This is the best of both worlds for our farm.  Emma will be an ambassador for our farm and the Gypsy Vanner breed while enriching the lives of others.  Although it is sad to see her leave, she is still owned by KD Farms and is living at an amazing facility.

Emma is the center of attention...as usual!

Unloading at Fassett Farm with Felicia.  (Say that 3 times fast!)  I think she is going to settle right in.

We have not color tested Emma, but according to what she has produced we know the following: Red Factor - at least one black gene,  Tobiano - at least one Tobiano gene (all foals have been tobiano),  Agouti - Aa.

Emma is our first Gypsy Vanner, purchased in 2003 after she was imported from the Collards' of Oakfield Farm.  She is an extremely powerful mare with an unbelieveable trot.  Although Emma is definitely the alpha mare, she is easily handled by my children and exhibits outstanding ground manners.

Emma is what we consider a very traditional,  heavy mare.  She has produced 4 foals (3 fillies and 1 colt) of exceptional quality, by four different stallions, with each foal exhibiting the qualities so desired by this breed.

Unfortunately, Emma has a very low chance of carrying a foal to term due to a persistant uterine infection that caused permanent damage. She is, however, a perfect candidate for anyone interested in embryo transfer.  We certainly feel that she would add quality, substance, and temperament to any herd.  Below is a photo of Oakfield Savannah, an Emma daughter we own, and her last foal, KD Reagan, a 2005 filly now in Canada.

Emma has also competed in several open and breed shows and is consistently in the ribbons in both halter and walk/trot performance classes.  She has been trained to drive by Cathy Zahm.  Although she was going well in harness, she would need a refresher course for us to feel comfortable selling her as a driving prospect.  Emma has the attitude and work ethic to be a show horse or a steady trail mount.
